Une biographie inédite consacrée à Madame Marat

Par la première fois sort en librairie, en langue italienne, une biographie entièrement consacrée à la tournusienne Simonne Evrard la compagne du révolutionnaire et homme de Sciences Jean-Paul Marat dit « L’Ami du Peuple ».
L’ouvrage nous provient de « chercheuse historique » italienne Stefania Di Pasquale passionnée par la Révolution française et en particulier par la figure de Jean-Paul Marat.
Après des années de recherches avec Pôlenordgroup Bruxelles , l’auteure a cherché à recueillir la presque totalité des documents d’archives qui concernent Madame Marat réalisant ainsi une biographie totalement inédite disponible sur Amazon.
Les bibliothèques, les librairies contiennent un un grand nombre de biographies concerant Marie-Antoinette, Madame Roland, Charlotte Corday, Théresia Cabarrus, Lucille Desmoulins, Josephine de Beauharnais ou de Olympe de Gouges. On n’y trouve rarement un ouvrage évoquant Simonne Evrard.

Elle est essentiellement évoquée, souvent en quelques mots dans les ouvrages consacrés à Marat mais personne ne s’est intéressé à cette grande figure féminine de la Révolution française. Elle s’y engagea « corps et âme » auprès de son compagnon, le protégeant de ses ennemis, veillant à sa santé et participant à la rédaction et à l’édition de « l’Ami du Peuple »

C’est bien elle qui a sauvé Marat en 1791, c’est elle qui a financé son journal travaillant jour et nuit avec l’homme qui l’aimait et dont elle avait accepté de partager les souffrances, les tribulations et la misère.

Simonne Evrard n’avait rien d’une simple servante illettrée ou d’une prostituée comme certains historiens ont cherché à la décrire. Elle était une jeune femme cultivée, élégante et qui aimait lire et écrire.
Si les œuvres politiques de Marat sont arrivées jusqu’aux nos jours, dont le lui devons ainsi qu’à sa belle-sœur Albertine.

Après l’assassinat de Jean-Paul Marat, elle entreprit de faire imprimer ses œuvres politiques. Seul le premier volume parut. Le coup d’état du 9 thermidor et la réaction thermidorienne qui mirent fin à son projet.

Simonne restera fidèle à la mémoire de Marat toute sa vie.

For the first time, a biography – in Italian – entirely devoted to Simonne Evrard, the Tournus woman who was partner of the revolutionary and scientist Jean-Paul Marat, known as « The People’s Friend », is available from bookshops.

It is the work of Italian historical researcher Stefania Di Pasquale, who is fascinated by the French Revolution and in particular by the figure of Jean-Paul Marat.

After years of research with Pôlenordgroup Brussels, the author has sought to collect almost all the archival documents concerning M^me Marat, thus producing a completely new biography available on Amazon.

Libraries and bookshops contain a large number of biographies on Marie-Antoinette, Madame Roland, Charlotte Corday, Théresia Cabarrus, Lucille Desmoulins, Josephine de Beauharnais or Olympe de Gouges. Rarely is there a work mentioning Simonne Evrard.

She is mainly mentioned, often in a few words, in works on Marat, but no one has been interested in this great female figure of the French Revolution. She committed herself « body and soul » to her companion, protecting him from his enemies, looking after his health and taking part in the writing and editing of L’Ami du Peuple (The People’s Friend).

It was indeed she who saved Marat in 1791, it was she who financed his newspaper, working day and night with the man who loved her and whose suffering, tribulations and misery she had agreed to share.

Simonne Evrard was not a simple illiterate servant girl or a prostitute, as some historians have sought to depict her. She was a cultivated, elegant young woman who loved to read and write.

If Marat’s political works have come down to the present day, it is thanks to her and her sister-in-law Albertine. After Jean-Paul Marat’s assassination, she undertook the publication of his political works. Only the first volume appeared. The coup d’état of 9 Thermidor and the Thermidorian reaction put an end to her project.

Simonne would remain faithful to Marat’s memory for the rest of her life.
